California Will Start Visiting Retailers

Last Updated on July 19, 2021

The California State Board of Equalization will begin visiting retailers across the state. The teams visiting the retailers will be only asking business-related questions to ensure retailers complying with all state and use tax laws by educating each retailers on properly reporting the tax. As of June 12, 2014, the California Board of Equalization had mailed approximately 8,500 letters to retailers they intended to visit for sales and use tax purposes. The visits will be completed on-site at the retailer’s location by a Statewide Compliance and Outreach Program team.
