The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts has established a tax amnesty program. Taxpayers can apply for amnesty if they do not currently hold a sales and use tax permit, and if they are not registered to collect a tax for the Comptroller’s office. The amnesty program will waive penalties, interest or both. Currently the amnesty program will not apply to businesses with a current tax liability or are under audit. The Comptroller’s office will provide additional details once the program dates have been established.
